Symphony concert tickets are available on-line or by phone, mail, or e-mail, and also at ticket outlets and box office. Please read the following information carefully.

Reserved seat tickets are available for sale on-line via Ticket Turtle for $15, $25, or $30.

General admission tickets are available for sale in advance at ticket outlets in Corvallis: Grass Roots Books & Music and Gracewinds Music. $15.

Reserved and general admission tickets can also be purchased one hour prior to the concerts at the LaSells Stewart Center Box Office at regular prices plus a $2 fee per ticket.

Student tickets are subject to availability. K-12 students (with a ticketed adult) and college students (with valid student ID) are admitted free. These free general admission tickets are available at the LaSells Stewart Center Box Office during the hour preceding the concert.

This post is to remind you of the unique and exciting opportunity that our Symphonic Choir has this month. As was outlined, with dates included, in the calendar that was including in the yearly grading policy that went out at the beginning of the school year we have 5 upcoming rehearsals outside of the regular school day in Corvallis at Oregon State University as part of our participation in a mass choir performance with full orchestra on the “Polovetzian Dance and Chours” by Alexander Borodin. These rehearsals and performance are required for students as part of the required commitments for Symphonic Choir that were included on the calendar that was included in the Grading Policy.

Here is the schedule of rehearsals:

Tuesday, November 8th – from 7:00pm-9:00pm (leaving SH at 6:00pm and returning at 10:00pm)
Monday, November 14th – from 7:00pm-9:30pm (leaving SH at 6:00pm and returning at 10:30pm) 7pm at Benton Hall, 8:45pm at LSC
Friday, November 18th – from 7:00-7:30 (leaving SH at 6pm and returning at 8:30pm)
Saturday, November 19th – from 10:00am-10:30 (leaving SH at 9:00am and returning at 11:30am)
Sunday, November 20th - from 8:00pm to 9:00pm (leaving SH at 7pm and returning at 10pm)
Performance:
Monday, November 21st at LaSells Stewart Center, Oregon State University – 7:30pm (call time likely 7:00pm, leaving SH at 6:00pm returning appx. 10:00pm)

This is a very exciting opportunity for our choir and will be an experience of a lifetime for these students!

We are currently trying to get parents to volunteer to drive students to save transportation costs and if you are willing to drive students to any of these events please get back to me at the latest by Monday, November with the date you are willing to help and how many students you can transport. I will then let you know if you are needed or not!

Symphonic Choir Trip Contracts

Congratulations to the Symphonic Choir who won the Sky-Em League Choir Championship Tuesday with scores of 90, 89, and 83. With their league championship and their high scores they have been guaranteed a spot to compete at the 4A State Championships on Friday May 6th at George Fox University in Newberg! Good job Choir!!

A Little Night Music Rescheduled

CA Trip Payments due Jan. 28th

Due to unexpected increases in transportation costs for this trip, this month's payment and the March payment have been increased by $11 and that will reflect on your bills. We are very sorry for the cost increase but the increased transportation costs combined with a extra tight budget this year gave us no other option. The good news we do not anticipate any additional cost increases for the trip!

The location for our concert will also have to move from the auditorium due to the Singing Christmas Tree performances next week to the SHHS Commons area. Choir Booster Contact Info Slip due Fri. 10/1

Students are bringing home a letter about the Choir Boosters. At the bottom of the letter is a form for you to fill out so that the Boosters can contact parents with info about upcoming meetings and ways to get involved in helping the Choir Program here in Sweet Home.

The info slip is due back at school on Fri. 10/1 and is worth 25 points towards students grades. If you do not wish to share your contact info with the Boosters there is a place to indicate that on the form, but please still send the slip back with your names and your student's name in order for students to get points for turning it in!

Symphonic Choir Spring CA Trip Contracts due Fri 9/17

On Monday students were sent home with itineraries and contracts for our upcoming spring choir tour to the San Francisco Bay area!

The contracts are due back with a yes or a no, by this Friday 9/17 and is worth 25 points towards students' grades.

If you need to see the itinerary or contract they are posted in the "Handouts & Letters" section on the righthand column of this website!

Costs are pretty accurate but they will drop slightly because transportation costs look like they might be less than originally estimated. We will adjust monthly bills sent home to students to reflect these costs changes.

Also a large percentage of all fundraising this year will go towards students' trip expenses! So get involved and get your students involved in choir fundraisers!

Symphonic Choir Retreat Friday 9/10

Dear Parents,
This letter is to inform you our plans for this year’s fall Symphonic Choir Retreat. The retreat is scheduled for THIS Friday, September 10th, 2010 beginning at 4:30pm and is an overnight activity with at least two adult chaperones (one of each gender with separate genders sleeping in separate rooms.) For parents of returning choir members you might remember retreats from previous years, and this retreat will be very similar to that event. All students need to bring for this event is a sleeping bag, a pillow, $3 for dinner, a small inexpensive candle to be given away during a special activity, and of course their music.
The purpose of this retreat is to give the students a chance for some intense musical rehearsal time to get a jump on our music for this school year. It is also a chance to give the choir an opportunity to interact with each other in activities that would not normally happen during the school day.
The rehearsal portions of this retreat are required rehearsals for students and will be counted as part of their final grade unless attendance is excused by me before the retreat. The overnight portion is not required but strongly encouraged!!

Symphonic Choir members were given a calendar of events for the school year! Please look this over and try to resolve any scheduling conflicts considering these events will be factored into students' grade in choir. (Please note the fundraising events are NOT REQUIRED but STRONGLY ENCOURAGED!

Grading Policy Signature Slips!

Due dates for the signature slip (worth 25 points towards students' grade)for the grading policy will be as follows:

OSU Summer Choir open to HS students!

Hey singers!!!

If you are missing the joy of singing in these summer months you should consider joining the OSU Summer Choir!

Rehearsals start this coming Monday, July 19th at Benton Hall (the music building) at Oregon State University in Corvallis OR.

Rehearsals are Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm-9:00pm and the performance is Wednesday, August 11th in Corvallis.

Cost is only $15 to cover music expenses!

The Spring Choir Concert here in Sweet Home is upon us! The concert is coming up on Thursday, June 3rd at 7:00pm in the Sweet Home High School Auditorium!

Please come and support these students and the hard work they have shown all trimester!

Students, remember you must be in the auditorium for your warm up in your assigned seat at 6:20pm sharp!!!!

The auditorium will be closed to the audience for this warm up time, and will be available to the public at around 6:35pm!

Concert Enjoyment
In order to maintain a positive concert environment, please observe the following guidelines.

During the concert we would appreciate a professional concert like atmosphere.
-We would ask that you would please turn off your cell phones and put away all electronic devices during the duration of the concert.
-Also please limit your conversations during the concert, talking while any choir is performing is very disrespectful, the students have worked hard all term and would appreciate your attentive listening to their performance.
-There is NO FOOD OR DRINK allowed in the auditorium at any time.
-Please do not exit or enter the auditorium except between songs or between performance groups.
-Lastly the appropriate way to show your appreciation for these students’ performance is through your thunderous applause. Please do not yell and holler at any students while they are on stage, we are trying to create a professional environment, like if you were going to a professional orchestra concert, or opera performance.
Thank you so much for your help in making this concert a great success!

Congratulations to the Sweet Home High School Symphonic Choir who competed at the OSAA 4A State Choir Championships yesterday and came home with a 7th place finish!!!

There are 40 4A High Schools in the state of Oregon and only the top 12 even get the opportunity to compete at state! 7th place marks the best ever finish for a Sweet Home High School Choir at the State Competition and the Symphonic Choir finished only 5 points outside of 4th place!

Awesome work Symphonic Choir! You earned this finish and should feel very proud of your accomplishments!

OSAA State Choir Championships!

The Symphonic Choir has been selected to perform at the OSAA State Choir Championships!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This will be only the 2nd time in school history that our choir has had the honor of performing at state!!

State is next Friday, May 7th at George Fox University in Newberg OR.

The Sweet Home High School Symphonic Choir is performing at 9:20am!

2nd Annual Tour Send Off Concert!

On Wednesday, April 21st at 7:30 pm, Sweet Home Symphonic Choir’s 2nd Annual Send-Off Concert will take place in Sweet Home High School’s Auditorium. This concert will feature State-Qualifying Sweet Home High School Symphonic Choir and Defending 3A State Champions Jefferson High School Concert and Jazz Bands.

Sweet Home Symphonic Choir will sing several pieces, including “The Moon Is Distant From the Sea” by David N. Childs, “Set Me As A Seal” by Rene Clausen, and “Soon Ah Will Be Done” by William Dawson, which received a standing ovation at both their Winter and Fall Concerts.

Some of the Jefferson High School Concert and Jazz Bands selections include “Green Hills Fantasy” by Thomas Doss and “Song Without Words” by Gustav Holst and jazz selection “Hey Pachuco” arranged by Shane Porter.

This concert marks the beginning of Sweet Home Symphonic Choir and Jefferson High School Concert and Jazz Band’s trip to Portland, Oregon and Grand Mound, Washington. The trip will take the students around Portland and Grand Mound, visiting attractions such as the Oregon Zoo and Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). Matthew Clark, director of Sweet Home choirs says, “We’re excited about getting these two talented groups together and getting ready for state. We have a clinic planned with Warner Pacific University and I think it will really benefit us while preparing for state and other spring time performances.”
Both Sweet Home Symphonic Choir and Jefferson High School Concert Band have qualified for state this year.

Symphonic Evening Rehearsal Thursday 12/17

Symphonic Choir will be having an evening rehearsal on Thursday 12/17 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm to work on holiday music in preparation for the Symphonic Holiday Music Tour that is taking place the following day.
